Château de l'Hyvernière

was burned to the ground during the French Revolution, and has since risen from the ashes.

It was then sold lock, stock and barrel after the Second World War. Now a modestly-sized property in the Muscadet Sèvre & Maine sur Lies appellation, Château de l'Hyvernière produces wines that respect the region's long-standing tradition. Hyvernière boasts a very attractive winery, with some 20 underground vats providing ideal conditions for vinification and offering optimal thermal inertia for fermentation.

Le Cru Goulaine

A small estate in the Muscadet Sèvre & Maine sur Lie appellation, Château de l'Hyvernière presents its Cru Goulaine cuvée. Sourced from parcels located on a dome and classified as the Goulaine "cru communal", all facing the marshes, this wine benefits from extended ageing on lees. The name "Goulaine", derived from "goule" meaning "neck" (as in bottleneck), refers to the way runoff water is channelled and poured into the marshes.
