Bringing the soil to life

At the Castel family estates, to nurture a vineyard means to know, understand and respect the character of the terroir. Since 2009, we have worked with the Terra Vitis certification. The only framework specifically adapted for winemaking, Terra Vitis is based on the principles of sustainable agriculture, taking into account people and the environment. We have also chosen organic methods for two of our properties, one of which is currently undertaking the conversion process (Château de Haut-Coulon).

Etoiles alsace

We are pleased to be working in collaboration with Les Étoiles d’Alsace, sharing their conviction that collective effort has a major influence on the work of the individual. Les Étoiles d’Alsace is an association bringing together the best of Alsatian gastronomy, from Michelin starred restaurants to the more informal winstubs, and includes master craftsmen, some of whom have been awarded the title “Meilleur Ouvrier de France,” France’s best craftsman.

Saveurs bretagne

Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus share their vision with Tables & Saveurs de Bretagne, an association of local chefs who see it as their mission to write the next chapter in the history of Breton gastronomy. Their values include hard work, rigour, a love of the product and the desire to share their knowledge and pass it on.

Through Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus we work closely with Toques Blanches Lyonnaises, an association of top names in local gastronomy who share a passion for flavour and the desire to protect and promote their heritage and regional products.


Interview with Sophie Palatsi, Domaine de la Clapière

How did you first come across Domaine de la Clapière?

I have always been involved with the world of wine; it’s a passion that was handed down to me by my family. In fact, my grandfather was one of the founders of the Castel business, and I have worked there since I was fifteen. In 2006, when my husband and I were looking for a vineyard property and somewhere to live in the Languedoc, I came across Domaine de la Clapière. We had been thinking about it for a long time, La Clapière finally made us take the plunge. The gorgeous location, the potential of the vineyard, the history of the property - it was love at first sight!
