CHÂTEAU D’ARCINS

is today considered one of the oldest estates in the Haut-Médoc, with vines first planted in the 14th century at the behest of the Knights Templar.

The property owes its name to a knight by the name of “Ars”, who inhabited the property around the year 1300. In the image of the First Growths, the vineyard is planted at a density of 9,600 vines per hectare. They comprise two complementary terroirs – one of gravel and the other of chalky clay.

Château d'Arcins

Château d’Arcins is a rich, well-balanced Haut-Médoc. Concentrated aromas of red fruits are offset by more nuanced notes of orange peel. A harmonious blend of flavours is held together by a luscious, warm, and ultimately robust structure. This full bodied wine is a fine representation of its Haut-Médoc terroir.

Chevalier d’Arcins

Chevalier d’Arcins is a flexible, fruit-forward red. Majority Merlot, the blend is lighter and more accessible than the château’s eponymous primary wine. With its delicately balanced palate and rich, refined finish, Chevalier d’Arcins perfectly reflects the property’s characteristic style.

" I’ve worked here for more than 36 years, so I’ve witnessed a major evolution. The gravelly soils to the north of the château, that we call “La Croupe d’Arcins” (The Arcins croup) are perfect for our elegant Cabernet-Sauvignon. The 15 ha plot that we call the “Queue de Boeuf” (The Oxtail) provides the perfect conditions for Merlot. "
