de Goëlane

The simple pleasures

A meeting took place

In 1957, Pierre Castel’s brother Angel drove through the hillsides of Saint-Léon at the wheel of his 2CV. He fell in love with this property, the first to be acquired by the Castel family

Caretaker’s Lodge

A small cottage with a red and white façade stands to one side of the château, adding a touch of colour. A delightful contrast to the mediaeval surroundings…

Mythical birds

Visitors to the Château are greeted at the gates by a series of sculpted mythical birds; these have become a symbol of the property, and embellish the stairs and magnificent wooden door.

From now on they will also be featuring on Château de Goëlane bottle capsules.

A new project for Château de Goëlane

With their arched windows and cut-stone walls, the winery buildings bear witness to a bygone era. In 2019, however, they will be joined by a state-of-the-art tank room, the next step in the château’s journey through time…
