Aspirant de Beychevelle 2017

Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus exclusive

« Aspirant de Beychevelle was created recently by Château Beychevelle, 4th Classified Growth from Saint-Julien, in collaboration with Castel Grands Crus. Clearly, the idea was to make a fruit-forward wine that can be enjoyed young, but also to reveal the elegance of the great Saint Julien terroir.

That’s what we were looking for with Aspirant, and the nose reveals luxurious black fruit aromas, and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is immediately silky and ready to drink, with a long finish that means that it will stand up well to a few years of aging in the bottle.

Amiral de Beychevelle 2017

Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus co-exclusive

« Amiral de Beychevelle 2017 is the second wine from the famous Grand Cru Classé Château Beychevelle, a 4th Classified Growth from Saint-Julien.

Amiral de Beychevelle is made from younger vines, but benefits from the same winegrowing practices as the property’s first wine. The blend is composed of 62% Cabernet sauvignon and 27% Merlot, with Cabernet franc making up the rest. On the nose, the wine offers very attractive notes of black fruit, impressive aromatic purity, and a hint of cocoa on the finish. These powerful black fruit aromas are again present on the palate, along with elegant, delicate oak. The wine can be enjoyed when young, but may also be allowed to age for a few years in the bottle. »

Croix de Beauséjour 2017

Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus co-exclusive

« Croix de Beauséjour is the second wine from the famous Château Beauséjour Duffau-Lagarrosse. The property is a 6.8 hectare jewel in the heart of the finest plateau in Saint-Emilion. This Croix de Beauséjour, the 2017 vintage of the property’s second wine. From the first nose, it offers exquisite notes of red fruits, with lightly spicy aromas. On the palate, the wine offers a silky texture, with tannins that are by now well integrated, providing a superb introduction to this wonderful Saint-Émilion property. »

Intuition de Fleur Cardinale 2018

Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus co-exclusive

« Intuition de Fleur Cardinale is the second wine from Château Fleur Cardinale, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé. This the 2018 vintage, the first made by the property. Fleur Cardinale has a number of strong commitments:

first and foremost a commitment to maintaining the family’s attachment to the property, but also to the vineyard itself and a rigorous environmental approach. Intuition is made up of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet franc. It is aged in barrels for 12 to 14 months. A vibrant nose invites us to continue the tasting. The flavour profile is defined by notes of ripe black fruits and toasted aromas. The palate is smooth, with perfectly ripe, well integrated tannins. This is a wine that can be enjoyed young, but it will also stand up well to a few years of aging in the bottle. This is a wine that’s all about pleasure. »

Colombier de Brown rouge 2017

Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus exclusive

« Today I will be tasting the 2017 vintage of Colombier de Brown rouge, the second wine from Château Brown in Pessac Léognan. In contrast to the property’s first wine, which is more powerful when enjoyed young, Colombier de Brown offers a slightly different expression of the Pessac-Léognan terroir. We get the same slightly smoky notes that are typical of the finest Pessac Léognan terroirs. A supple attack gives way to an elegant, full-bodied mid-palate. The tannins are silky, well integrated, offering a long, full finish. Majority Merlot, the first nose is highly aromatic, with notes of black fruit and cocoa. »

Colombier de Brown blanc 2019

Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus exclusive

« Today I will be tasting Colombier de Brown blanc, the second wine from Château Brown in Pessac Léognan. The 2019 vintage offers the same smoothness that we find in the property’s first wine, which comes from the Sémillon, as well as delicate woody notes. That said, the style is a little more nervous and the wine can be enjoyed young. On the palate, the tasting profile offers attractive white peach notes, with the Sauvignon blanc bringing a hint of citrus. The palate is full-bodied, remarkably delicate, with ample freshness on the finish. A slight vanilla aroma recalls the wine’s delicate barrel aging. »
