In the peculiar context surrounding 2020, a number of our clients in France and further afield have been unable to make their annual journey to Bordeaux to taste the 2019 "En Primeur" vintage.

This year, with every respect for recommended protective measures, our teams set out to to visit some of the finest Grand Cru and partner properties on the Left and Right Banks.

We also received hundreds of samples, which our teams tasted at our offices. anne-Lyse Drouineau, Wine Buyer for Castel Grands Crus, gave us her comments on the vintage as a whole:

« In short, 2019 is in perfect harmony with the climatic conditions of the vintage, namely a long, fine and dry summer. Much needed rain in September brought excellent balance to the wines.

The reds are ripe and fresh at the same time, with excellent structure. This is very much a wine lovers’ vintage, highlighting the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Left Bank, and giving us distinctive and identifiable Right Bank Merlots. The whites are equally well balanced, sapid, and excellent on the finish. 2019 is a fantastic vintage for Bordeaux whites. »

We would like to thank the Grands Crus and all our partner châteaux who contributed to this tasting, and we wish everyone involved an excellent “en Primeur” campaign.

Today, more than ever, négociants must play the role of advocate for its clients customers. In spite of the current context, our priority is to maintain close contact with our partner Grands Crus, and as such to maintain a privileged relationship with our clients.
