Anyone involved with property acquisition in the wine world knows that every wine estate, be it historic or modern, is a piece of history, a piece of our heritage: a vineyard and its terroirs.
And a piece of heritage is infinitely more than just a place of work. Terroirs, vineyards, estates and Grands Crus… these are not things we own. We are simply their guardians, doing our best for them today and preserving them for future generations.
We are pleased to be working in collaboration with Les Étoiles d’Alsace, sharing their conviction that collective effort has a major influence on the work of the individual. Les Étoiles d’Alsace is an association bringing together the best of Alsatian gastronomy, from Michelin starred restaurants to the more informal winstubs, and includes master craftsmen, some of whom have been awarded the title “Meilleur Ouvrier de France,” France’s best craftsman.
Castel Estates and Vineyards share their vision with Tables & Saveurs de Bretagne, an association of local chefs who see it as their mission to write the next chapter in the history of Breton gastronomy. Their values include hard work, rigour, a love of the product and the desire to share their knowledge and pass it on.
How did you first come across Domaine de la Clapière?
I have always been involved with the world of wine; it’s a passion that was handed down to me by my family. In fact, my grandfather was one of the founders of the Castel business, and I have worked there since I was fifteen. In 2006, when my husband and I were looking for a vineyard property and somewhere to live in the Languedoc, I came across Domaine de la Clapière. We had been thinking about it for a long time, La Clapière finally made us take the plunge. The gorgeous location, the potential of the vineyard, the history of the property - it was love at first sight!
At Castel, we recognise that working together is in everybody’s interests; we realise that a good group dynamic will reflect well on the individual. Castel Estates and Vineyards are a living presence. They are full of stories - sometimes even history – but they are not museums. We want to bring our properties to life: we want everyone to love visiting them, and we want them to create happy memories.
Castel Estates and Vineyards is a story of love at first sight. And we want to do more than just share our love. We want everyone to fall in love with our properties too - négociants, retailers, restaurateurs, journalists...
“Discover, reveal and nurture” is the motto we live by.
At heart, we are winemakers - living the land and engaging with our terroirs on a daily basis.
By trade, we are négociants – thinking distribution and reputation.
A dual approach supporting our Châteaux and Grands Crus.
